The TWRA's television show, Tennessee's Wild Side, is an Emmy award-winning, half-hour, magazine format outdoors program airing on Public Broadcasting Service stations across the state and is also broadcast nationally on The Outdoor Channel and Comcast Sports Southeast. It features segments not only for the avid hunter or angler, but stories on many other types of outdoor activities.
A variety of educational programs are offered to the general public, both children and adults, and professional educators. Youth outreach programs include youth mentor hunting programs and fishing rodeos with thousands of participants annually, usually associated with Free Fishing Day.
Envirothons, high school environmental studies competitions, are held each year. Women can participate in Becoming an Outdoors-Woman workshops designed to teach outdoor skills and fishing clinics. Backyard "wildscaping" (landscaping for wildlife) workshops are offered. Wildlife related educational materials including books, posters, and videos are also available to the public.
