Sevier County was formed in 1794 from Jefferson County
(Acts of Tennessee 1794 [1st Session], Chapter 11).

The county seat is Sevierville.

There was a fire at the Sevier County courthouse in 1856.

NEWSPAPERS ON MICROFILM 

Newspapers were published in Gatlinburg and Sevierville.  Scattered early issues are available from 1882, and a complete run begins in 1909.
