All programs where the PLA applied credit is equivalent to the required courses for the program.

No.

Can PLA credits be transferred between departments and programs within this institution?

Please note that when you change degree programs or majors, that some courses and credits may no longer be relevant and thus will not transfer.

All PLA credit awarded by our intuition is used if it is applicable to the degree program the student is seeking.

Generally, general education courses and electives will transfer but courses in the major may not.

When do PLA credits appear on a student's transcript?

PLA credit will be reviewed and awarded after the student is admitted to the college.

Do they accept PLA credit transferred from other institutions?

We will accept PLA credit transferred from other TBR or UT institutions.

If so, when do they appear on the student's transcript?
PLA credit will be reviewed and awarded after the student is admitted to the college.

How do CLEP tests appear on a student's transcript?
CLEP credit is listed as transfer credit with a grade of T for transfer.

Do they offer portfolio credits?
Yes. JSCC will use CAEL (Council for Adult and Experiential Learning) for evaluation of portfolio credit. Please refer to http://www.learningcounts.org/ for details on this process. If the evaluation reflects credit to be awarded, that will be transferred back to JSCC to be added to the student transcript.

Do they offer a course for students creating portfolios for assessment?
Yes, this course will be through http://www.learningcounts.org/.

Who assesses student portfolios?
Faculty members provided by CAEL.

How do portfolio credits appear on a student's transcript?
If credit is granted, it would be posted as transfer credit(s) with a T grade because it is internal credit being awarded from an external source.
