Special Health Needs
- A child with special health needs may see many doctors. These doctors are very important as they provide many types of services.
- A child with special needs should also see his/her family doctor or Primary Care Provider (PCP) for a yearly checkup. Check In with your child's PCP to schedule a yearly exam.
- If your child is under 21 and has TennCare, they should have a free, yearly health checkup. They can also get other health services through the TENNderCARE program. Together, the doctors and the PCP can treat all of your child's health needs. Have your child Check Up with a PCP every year and for any new health needs during the year.
- And remember to Check Back each year. Your child should see the PCP every year for a TENNderCare exam. You can also take your child to see the PCP if any other problems come up in between checkups. Your child should also see their dentist every six months for a free dental checkup.
