STATEMENT FROM DARIN GORDON, TENNCARE DIRECTOR,
REGARDING FIFTH WAIVER EXENSION FROM FEDS
"The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued a fifth temporary extension for TennCare's waiver. The latest extension expires September 30, 2007. While everyone has continued to work together and is eager for this process to be completed, we agreed to another extension that will provide the federal government, particularly the Office of Management and Budget, additional time to consider the proposed financial terms and conditions so that Tennessee is not treated unfairly."
TennCare is Tennessee's expanded Medicaid program, providing health insurance coverage to 1.2 million Tennesseans, including 640,000 children. For more information about TennCare, visit www.tn.gov/tenncare
