Measure at a Glance
Type: task to be performed
Duration: completed any time during the reporting period’s year, so long that the date is on or before the last day of the reporting period
Objective:Capability to submit electronic syndromic surveillance data to public health agencies and actual submission except where prohibited and according to applicable law and practice
Measure: Performed at least one test of the certifies EHR technology’s capacity to provide electronic syndromic surveillance data to public health agencies and follow-up submission if the test is successful (unless none of the public health agencies to which an EP submits such information has the capacity to receive the information electronically)
Exclusion: An EP who does not collect any reportable syndromic information on their patients during the EHR reporting period or does not submit such information to any public health agency that has the capacity to receive the information electronically
Eligible professionals (EPs) are required to accomplish one of the two public health menu measures. As no public health agency in Tennessee has the capacity to receive syndromic surveillance data from EPs in the standards mandated, EPs should attest to Menu Measure 9, the immunization registry.
As TennCare encourages EPs to select measures for which they have data before claiming exclusions, TennCare discourages attesting to an exclusion for syndromic surveillance to count this measure toward the five required menu measures.
