The Tennessee Electronic Learning Center is a parent-friendly resource for understanding Tennessee's learning standards through use of Apple iTunes.
The Department's curriculum standards page defines what Tennessee students are supposed to learn in school. Visitors may navigate this information by grade level or subject area for Kindgergarten through 12th grade by visiting http://ww.tn.gov/education/curriculum.shtml.
Parents may find the "Checks for Understanding" to be the easiest explanation of what their child should be able to do in any subject or grade level. These items are denoted by a check mark and listed under each learning standard. While the learning standards are defined in technical terms, these checks for understanding are easily identifiable signs that a student understands a particular skill.
