The Roadway Inventory (or Travel Data) Office consists of two sections: Analysis and Travel Data.
- Traffic Forecasting
- Compiles and Reports Travel Data for HPMS to FHWA
- Performs 12 Hour Turning Movement Counts
The Analysis Section compiles statewide traffic data for the Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS) and reports the data to the Federal Highway Administration. Traffic statistics are collected and analyzed for a variety of reports. This section also is responsible for the design of permanent traffic count locations (Embedded Detection Loops and Automated Traffic Recorders) that are inserted into contract plans.
The Analysis Section provides traffic forecast data and analysis used during multiple phases of project development.
Travel Data Section
- Collection and dissemination of various types of travel data
- Incorporating all traffic data into computer data bases (ADAM, TRIMS and Traffic Web Sites)
- Statewide traffic volume and classification counts
The Travel Data Section is responsible for collecting traffic volumes, travel time surveys, and special counts statewide. It also processes vehicle volume, classification and vehicle weight data. This section incorporates all data into Advanced Traffic Data Analysis and Management (ADAM), Tennessee Roadway Information Management System (TRIMS), the Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) book and the Division's three traffic count websites.
