Safety Message Contest
For the third year in a row, TDOT is once again holding its popular contest to see who can come up with the best safety message for the Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) you see on the interstates. TDOT’s goal with these messages has always been to raise awareness of highway safety. The contest gives Tennessee motorists an opportunity to be a part of our mission to save lives. Last year’s winning entry was, “Turn signals, the original instant messaging.” Other popular messages included, “Get the cell of your phone and drive!” and “Practice safe texts, don’t do it while driving.”
You must choose from one of the categories below. Messages can correlate with current events but you can’t get specific. For example, when the new Star Wars movie was released, TDOT displayed, “Drinking and driving is the path to the dark side”. Neither the movie title nor any celebrity names were mentioned. **Any message containing profanity or lewd comments will be disqualified.
Please select from one of the following categories:
- Distracted Driving
- Impaired Driving
- Seat Belts
- Aggressive Driving
Type your message below. Be sure to include your name, email and phone number and then hit SUBMIT. TDOT will select the finalists and the public will get to vote on the winner beginning on February 21st. The message with the most votes will be put in rotation on the signs and seen all across the state.
Contest Runs: January 30 - February 10 (4:30 p.m. CST)
