Each QSR review is completed by a lead reviewer and another party referred to as a “shadow.” A shadow is an integral part to the QSR process. Shadows come from varying backgrounds and may be unfamiliar with the QSR process and protocol. While the shadowing process welcomes anyone, some basic knowledge of how child and/or family systems work would be helpful in understanding the process and outcome. The shadow assists in processing information/evidence gathered during the review, and assists in rating the indicators giving validity to the process.
