AN ACT To amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 8-21-1001, relative to fees charged by county registers in any county having a charter form of government with a population of less than three hundred fifty thousand (350,000), according to the 1990 federal census or any subsequent federal census.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 8-21-1001, is amended by adding the following language to be designated as subsection (e):
In addition to any other fee permitted in this section or by law, the register of any county which has adopted a charter form of government pursuant to Title 5, Chapter 1, Part 2, and which has a population of less than three hundred fifty thousand (350,000), according to the 1990 federal census or any subsequent federal census, may, upon the adoption of a resolution by two-thirds (2/3) vote of the county legislative body of such county, demand and receive for such register's services a fee of two dollars ($2.00) for each instrument in such register's office; to be collected for the express purpose of creating, upgrading and maintaining a computerized document retrieval system.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
