AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 8-21-1001, relative to fees collected by the register of any county having a population of not less than twenty-three thousand four hundred fifty (23,450) nor more than twenty-four thousand (24,000), according to the 1990 Federal Census or any subsequent Federal Census.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:

SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 8-21-1001, is amended by adding the following new subsection:

( ) Upon adoption of a resolution by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the County Legislative Body to which this subsection applies, in addition to any other fee permitted in this section or by law, the register of any county having a population of not less than twenty-three thousand four hundred fifty (23,450) nor more than twenty-four thousand (24,000) according to the 1990 Federal Census or any subsequent Federal Census may demand and receive for such register's services a fee of two dollars ($2.00) for data processing for each instrument recorded in such register's office. Such fees shall be allocated by such county for the purchase of computer equipment, supplies and maintenance used in the operation of such register's office.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
