AN ACT To amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 3, Chapter 7, relative to federal grants review by Fiscal Review Staff.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:

SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 3-7-110, is amended by designating the existing language as subsection (a) and by adding the following as a new subsection (b):

(b) There is established a federal grants monitoring and information management responsibility within the staffs of the Fiscal Review Committee and the Legislative Budget Office. The monitoring and information management responsibility shall be administered by one (1) staff person in the Legislative Budget Office and one (1) staff person from the staff of the Fiscal Review Committee. The staff of the Fiscal Review Committee and the Legislative Budget Office shall jointly monitor, analyze, and manage information concerning federal grants programs, including but not limited to social services grant funds, in order to inform members of the General Assembly concerning such grants. The Directors of the staff of the Fiscal Review Committee and of the Legislative Budget Office shall jointly make such reports as are appropriate to the Speakers of the House of Representatives and of the Senate and to the Fiscal Review Committee.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 1998, the public welfare requiring it.
