AN ACT To amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 39-14-132, relative to odometer tampering.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:

SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 39-14-132(b)(1), is amended by deleting subdivision (B) in its entirety and by substituting instead the following:

(B) The owner of the vehicle or agent of the owner shall affix to the left door frame of the vehicle a secure, permanent plate or sticker conforming with federal standards which contains the mileage before the service, repair or replacement and the date of the service, repair or replacement.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 1998, the public welfare requiring it.
