AN ACT To amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 71-3-506, relative to child welfare agencies.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:

SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 71-3-506, is amended by adding the following language as a new, appropriately designated subsection:

( ) All licensure application and renewal fees collected by the department from family child care homes, group child care homes and child care centers shall be paid into the general fund but shall be earmarked for and dedicated to the Department of Human Services. Such earmarked fees shall be exclusively used by the department to improve child care quality in this state through training and educational programs and services for child care providers.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 1998, the public welfare requiring it.
