Meetings

The Tennessee State Board of Education must provide the consistency, transparency and the oversight that the public demands while ensuring that we maintain an environment of opportunity for all of Tennessee’s children from Memphis to Mountain City.

As part of the commitment the Tennessee State Board of Education hosts many different types of public meetings, ranging from workshops to official board meetings to local feedback sessions.

All meetings are posted publicly. Workshops and board meetings are live streamed to ensure access for those who cannot attend in person.

Board meetings are quarterly meetings where the Board votes on proposed actions including rule and policy adoption, licensure disciplinary action and non-binding resolutions.

Workshops are quarterly meetings that occur on the day prior to the Board meeting. Workshops generally include more presentations, discussions and questions than Board meetings and often include information updates that do not require official action.

Local feedback sessions are meetings where Board members and staff meet with educators, parents, community members and other stakeholders to learn about the impact of policy on classrooms and gather feedback to inform future decision-making.
