On March 25th of 1997, my life was forever changed. My husband, Tommy Evans, was on his way home from work. It was on a Tuesday night, and we were so excited because we had finally closed on the mortgage papers for what we imagined too be our dream home. It was perfect for not only me and him, but for our two gorgeous daughters, ages 3 and 4. Tommy was driving on I-40 eastbound at mile marker #262. He hit the one and only tree in the median, a Bradford Pear tree. I have found so many things that are questionable, but that is to no avail because on March 25th, 1997, I, Violet Evans, lost my best friend, the love of my life. But most of all, I started watching two magnificent little girls grow up without a father. And yes, I was at the tender age of 24, but I have never remarried, loved again, or understood how people are able to turn their head to awful crimes.
