Nashville, Tennessee --- Former Communications Operator Regina A. Sims has resigned in lieu of termination, effective Tuesday, March 4, 2008, following a citation on charges of two counts of simple possession and one count of unlawful drug paraphernalia on Monday, March 3, 2008 in Putnam County.
The Department of Safety requested and Sims submitted to a drug test on Monday, March 3, following reasonable suspicion of possible drug use and possession. The investigation was initiated by the THP Cookeville District in conjunction with the Office of Professional Responsibility.
Sims, 31, was hired by the Department of Safety in August 2007.

The department encompasses the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Office of Homeland Security and Driver License Services. General areas of responsibility include law enforcement, safety education, motorist services and terrorism prevention.
