Nashville, Tennessee --- The Tennessee Highway Patrol is teaming up with the Alabama Department of Safety and the Mississippi Highway Patrol to “Take Back Our Highways.” The program is an intensive joint effort to reduce traffic fatalities and increase safety during the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

The “Take Back Our Highways” program will place all available law enforcement officers from participating agencies on patrol November 19-25 in a highway safety effort throughout the tri-state area. THP Colonel Mike Walker will be joined by Col. J. Christopher Murphy from Alabama Dept. of Safety and Col. Michael Berthay from the Mississippi Highway Patrol to explain initiative.
The Tennessee Department of Safety's mission is (www.tn.gov/safety) to ensure the safety and general welfare of the public. The department encompasses the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Office of Homeland Security and Driver License Services. General areas of responsibility include law enforcement, safety education, motorist services and terrorism prevention.
