TDOS To Name Trooper Of The Year On Monday

Nashville, Tennessee --- The Tennessee Department of Safety will announce Trooper of the Year and the promotions of five officers in a special ceremony Monday, August 6, 2007. It will be held at 10 a.m. at the Department of Safety Training Center in Nashville.

In addition to naming the Trooper of the Year for the state of Tennessee, ten other officers will also be recognized as Trooper of the Year for their individual districts, including Trooper Calvin Jenks, who was killed in the line of duty in January.

The Tennessee Department of Safety's mission is (www.tn.gov/safety) to ensure the safety and general welfare of the public. The department encompasses the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Office of Homeland Security and Driver License Services. General areas of responsibility include law enforcement, safety education, motorist services and terrorism prevention.
