Nashville, Tennessee --- The Tennessee Department of Safety advises that the Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting a Homeland Security Hazardous Materials Checkpoint Tuesday, June 27. The checkpoint will focus on trucks that carry Hazardous Materials, Overseas Containers and Rental trucks. The checkpoint will be held at the Manchester Scales along I-24 westbound in Coffee County . Several state and federal agencies will be participating in the checkpoint including the state Department of Homeland Security, TEMA, TDOT, the State Fire Marshall's Office, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and local police agencies. The checkpoint will begin at 9:00 a.m. CDT and will last until early evening.
