Nashville, Tennessee --- Tennessee State Troopers and other Department of Safety personnel killed in the line of duty will be remembered in a special service on Thursday, May 18 th , at 9:00am . The annual memorial will be held at Department of Safety Headquarters, 1150 Foster Avenue in Nashville .
More than 30 Troopers have died in the line of duty since the Tennessee Highway Patrol was established in 1929, including Trooper Todd Larkins, 31, who died on July 8 th, 2005, while making a traffic stop along I-40 in Dickson County. The memorial service will include a rifle salute by the THP's Special Operations unit, music tributes and a special flyover. The event coincides with National Police Week, observed May 14-20, and National Peace Officers Memorial Day, which was Monday, May 15 th.
Among the special guests for the event will be Tennessee Attorney General Paul Summers, former Governor Winfield Dunn and Alicia Larkins, widow of Trooper Todd Larkins.
