Title and Registration Division Temporarily Closed

Nashville, Tennessee --- The Tennessee Department of Safety advises that the Title and Registration Division Office, housed in the building located at 44 Vantage Way in Nashville , Tennessee , has been temporarily closed due to a small electrical fire which caused a power outage at the building. This could impact people who often come to Nashville to conduct business at the office from across the state.

"We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause the public," stated Title and Registration Director Paula Shaw. "In the meantime, people should contact their local county clerk for assistance with any title and registration matters."

The office is expected to reopen January 11, 2006 at 12:00pm .

To ensure as little delay as possible, citizens wishing to conduct business at the Title and Registration Division office are advised to call 741-3101 to ensure that the office has reopened.

The Tennessee Department of Safety's mission is (www.tn.gov/safety) to ensure the safety and general welfare of the public. The department encompasses the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Office of Homeland Security and Driver License Services. General areas of responsibility include law enforcement, safety education, motorist services and terrorism prevention.
