TDOS Downtown Express Driver License Station Reopens

March 28, 2005

Nashville, Tennessee --- The Tennessee Department of Safety has reopened a popular driver license express location in Nashville after almost three months of remodeling. The station, which is located in the William Snodgrass Tennessee Tower near the State Capitol, serves between 1,000 and 1,200 customers each month.

"We're happy to have this station up and running again," says Tennessee Safety Commissioner Fred Phillips. "Although it is a part-time express center processing renewals and duplicates only, it serves a large number of customers. I'm sure that downtown Nashville workers will be glad to have this resource available to them again."

The remodeling project expanded the public seating area and added a handicap accessible rest room. It is part of a larger Capital Improvement Project at the William Snodgrass Tower Facility.

This station provides convenient walk-to service for workers in downtown Nashville. Its services are limited to duplicates, renewals and requests for motor vehicle records from current Tennessee driver license holders. This site is open from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm daily, Monday through Friday.

"We're committed to providing options that give Tennesseans opportunities to receive basic services quickly and conveniently," Phillips says. "This express station is one option. We also offer online services to current license holders who want to renew or get duplicates of their licenses. More than 50,000 people chose online renewal last year. We encourage everyone with computer access to use our online services." The Department of Safety also serves reinstatement and change of address requests online. The online services home page is at: http://apps.tn.gov/tndlr/ .
