Nashville, Tennessee --- Tennessee State Troopers and other Department of Safety personnel killed in the line of duty will be remembered in a special service on Wednesday, May 18th, at 9:00am. The annual memorial will be held at the Department of Safety headquarters, 1150 Foster Avenue in Nashville . The keynote speaker is Middle Tennessee U. S. Attorney Jim Vines. Among the confirmed guests is former Tennessee Governor Winfield Dunn.
More than 30 Troopers have died in the line of duty since the Tennessee Highway Patrol was established in 1929. The memorial service will include a rifle salute by the THP's Special Operations unit, music tributes and a special flyover. The service coincides with National Police Week, observed May 15-21, and National Peace Officers Memorial Day, which was Sunday, May 15.
