Teaching Literacy in Tennessee: Summer Learning Series

Teaching Literacy in Tennessee

Literacy instruction is, and has been, a top priority for teachers and schools across Tennessee. Last year, the department published the Vision for Third Grade Reading Proficiency as a first step toward defining what proficiency looks like for students in the early grades and beyond.

In May 2017, the department released a practical guidance document called Teaching Literacy in Tennessee, which serves as the department’s “how” resource for teaching literacy.  The early learning team will be hosting a series of summer learning opportunities on the topics listed below. We encourage pre-K through fourth grade educators to attend, including ESL and special educators.
