This Web site was created as a resource to help state employees learn more about the State of Tennessee Voluntary Buyout Program (VBP).
The State’s goal in establishing the VBP is to reduce $64 million in recurring expenses from the budget. In identifying positions eligible for the program, departments and agencies have also looked at ways to reorganize state government to achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness.
The buyout offer was made to about 12,000 eligible employees to achieve the desired reduction of approximately 2,200 positions. Employees in eligible positions received program materials in June.
