Making Opportunity Affordable - Tennessee

Tennessee is one of 11 states participating in the Making Opportunity Affordable initiative. This initiative is a multi-year grant funded by Lumina Foundation for Education with the goal of increasing productivity – the number of degrees and certificates produced with the resources available.

This initiative addresses a vital need in Tennessee. In order to meet the current national average of working-age adults with an Associate’s degree or higher, Tennessee would need a cumulative additional 269,000 degrees. In other words, Tennessee needs to continuously increase its degree productivity by 3.5 percent every year from now until 2025. The MOA-TN initiative includes several national, state, and institutional partners to collectively develop, implement, and sustain policies and practices that can cost-effectively expand the state’s degree production.
