This is an advanced course for criminal investigators, crime scene technicians, and forensic scientists who have been processing crime scenes for at least five (5) years and have already attended Basic City/County Investigation School or TBI State Academy. The student is expected to have background and experience in processing crime scenes. This course will focus on advanced techniques in documenting crime scenes and evidence collection. Practical exercises will focus both on collecting and processing evidence at the crime scene as well as in a laboratory setting. Advanced photography techniques for crime scenes, including BlueStar photography, laser trajectory, and night photography will also be covered. Lectures will incorporate practical exercises. This course will culminate in a mock crime scene and case presentation.
Local and County Officers: $500
State Officers: $600
The student must have at least five (5) years active crime scene processing experience and have already attended Basic City/County Investigation School or TBI State Academy.
Students need to bring a digital camera both weeks of this class. Also, the student needs to bring appropriate clothing (i.e. jeans/BDUs and tennis shoes/boots) for processing crime scenes, both inside and outside. Students should bring the crime scene kits that are used at their department.
