Majority understand significance of
Top-to-Bottom Review

In last month’s newsletter we introduced the Employee Question-of-the-Month feature, which we kicked off with “Do you understand the significance of the TDLWD’s Top-to-Bottom Review?” Of the department’s employees who responded to the survey, 66.7 percent said yes, they understood; 25.6 percent said they did not; and 7.7 percent said they did not know what the Top-to-Bottom review was.

One of the biggest responses to a call for applicants in recent departmental history took place Wednesday, November 2, at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro with the announcement that Yates Services was seeking to fill positions for Nissan’s Vehicle Assembly Plant in Smyrna.

In observance of Veterans’ Day, Career Centers in Tullahoma, Chattanooga, Gallatin, and Nashville Metro held open houses for veterans, employers and the general public.

19th Stand Down serves several hundred vets

Veterans’ representatives from middle Tennessee Career Centers came together again this year to help make the 19th Annual Operation Stand Down a success.

“Laborers of Love”
walk for a cure

A team from the Department of Labor & Workforce Development took part in the “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk again this year, which is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The team, called “Laborers of Love,” raised $700 for the event that began and ended at LP Field on October 15.

This was a splendid team effort for Systems Administrations staff, which is under Roy, and the Help Desk and Tech Support staff, under David.

The Fall Festival is an annual luncheon IT puts on twice a year to help build morale and to promote team effort. The occasion provides a chance to introduce new staff, acknowledge awards, and make announcements pertinent to the IT division.
