President Obama hears from leaders of youth employment programs

LWIAs 11 and 12 see changes

As part of the Top-to-Bottom Review of the Department of Economic and Community Development (ECD), Governor Haslam has defined nine regions of the state for the purposes of economic development. As a key partner in the effort, the Local Workforce Investment areas (LWIAs) will be working to closely partner with the Regional ECD Directors.

  • Workforce Development Workforce Development Administrator Susan Cowden has been selected as a participant in the Leadership Middle Tennessee Class of 2012. She is one of 33 delegates in the 2012 class, chosen because they have demonstrated a high level of community commitment as community, business, or government leaders.
  • Employment Security Veterans’ Services Program Coordinator Chris Cole, on behalf of Governor Haslam, Commissioner Davis, and the TDLWD, honored Jim Cecil, counselor and former team leader for the Chattanooga Vet Center, in his recent retirement.
  • Regulations & Compliance Two mine safety instructors, Oscar Frederick and Bobby Swisher, will teach CPR and First Aid for several employees at 220 French Landing on August 11.
