WORKERS’ COMPENSATION MEDICAL FEE SCHEDULE AVAILABLE ONLINE
NEW SCHEDULE WILL BE EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2005
NASHVILLE — Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley announces the new medical fee schedule for workers’ compensation claims effective July 1, 2005. The medical fee schedule was created as a part of the 2004 Workers’ Compensation Reform Act. It is comprehensive in nature and shall apply to all health care providers involved in the treatment of a Tennessee workers’ compensation injury where the date of service is on or after July 1, 2005. Separate schedules apply to inpatient and outpatient hospital treatment.
“This department and the employees of our Workers’ Compensation Division have worked long and hard developing this schedule,” said Commissioner Neeley. “We’ve pulled together as a team working with the medical community across the state to develop a fair medical fee schedule for all those affected. Now we can be more competitive with our neighboring states in attracting new business and industry to Tennessee.”
The schedule is primarily Medicare-based and establishes the maximum allowable fees. Parties are eligible to negotiate payment amounts below the amounts in the schedule; however, in no event shall reimbursement be in excess of the medical fee schedule rules. The fee schedule rates apply statewide and do not vary for urban or rural providers. The medical fee schedule will be reviewed and updated annually.
The medical fee schedule is available online through a link from the Workers’ Compensation Division home page. The address is www.state.tn.us/labor-wfd/wcomp . Questions concerning the fees should be addressed to Blaine Sprouse at email@example.com or by calling him at 615-253-0064.
