EMPLOYER TAX REPORTING A SUCCESS NASHVILLE - Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley announces the employer online tax filing program a success. More than 52,000 reports and 8,000 surveys have been filed using Tennessee's Premium and Wage (TNPAWS) online reporting system, since it began operation in the first quarter of 2003. "Approximately 95% of the survey respondents indicated that they will continue to use TNPAWS to report in the future," said Neeley. "We are proud of this accomplishment as it demonstrates Governor Bredesen's goal to make state government services easier for Tennesseans. Employers love the easy access and timesaving qualities of the online service." The first quarter of the year is the best time to begin using TNPAWS because each quarter TNPAWS saves the employee wage information that employers enter and displays it when an employer reports the following quarter. For example, let's say an employer filed his first quarter report using TNPAWS. When he files his second quarter, he will only need to add any new employees (and delete any former ones) and enter each employee's wages for the current quarter to complete the report, saving time every quarter. TNPAWS tracks the Excess and Taxable Wage amounts of every employee for each quarter of the year. The TNPAWS Web site is located at http://tnpaws.tnui.net and is available for use by all premium-paying employers. TNPAWS was designed for employers with fewer than 100 employees, but any number of employees may be reported using TNPAWS. To file a Premium and Wage Report using TNPAWS, go to the TNPAWS home page, verify that your browser and settings are compatible, and register a unique User Name and Password. The Access Code for each account you are reporting is needed to complete the registration process. The Access Code is printed to the right of line 1 (Total Wages) on the Premium Report (LB-0456) that is mailed to employers each quarter.
