SEPTEMBER COUNTY UNEMPLOYMENT RATES
RATES SHOW DECREASE IN 93 COUNTIES
NASHVILLE – Tennessee ’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for September 2006 was 4.6 percent, down from the August rate of 5.7 percent. County unemployment rates for September 2006, released today, show that 93 county rates decreased and two county rates increased.
Williamson County again had the state ’s lowest unemployment rate at 2.6 percent, down slightly from 3.5 percent in August. Haywood County had the state ’s highest at 8.9 p ercent, which was down from the August rate of 10.8 percent.
Knox County had the state ’s lowest major metropolitan rate for September at 3.1 percent, down from 4.3 percent in August. Davidson County was the second lowest at 3.7 percent, down from 5.0 percent in August. Hamilton County was also down in August, at 3.9 percent, and Shelby County was 5.1 percent, down from 6.7 percent in August.
