Rogersville Career Center Celebrates New Location
Labor Commissioner and Chamber officials Attend
NASHVILLE — Citizens of Hawkins, Hancock, and other area counties attended the official opening of the new Rogersville Career Center today at 1112 East Main Street in Rogersville.
“We are pleased to show off our brand new facility in Rogersville and give people a firsthand look at the programs and services available to them,” said James Neeley, Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development, who spoke at the opening. “People seem delighted with the new location. We have been in the new office just a few months and have already seen an increase in the number of people we serve.”
Neeley said the Career Center aims to serve both employers and workers. As well as job referral and unemployment claims taking, the Career Center offers services to employers including recruiting qualified personnel, managing on-site interviews, pre-screening applicants, and assistance in accessing the most comprehensive labor market data in the state. On Mondays and Thursdays, a Workforce Investment Area representative from the Career Center in Morristown is available in the Rogersville Career Center to do vocational testing and help with résumé writing and other job search activities.
Neeley was joined at the Rogersville Career Center open house by Rogersville/Hawkins County Chamber of Commerce officials who performed the official ribbon cutting.
Eleanor Newman is manager of the Rogersville Career Center, located at 1112 East Main Street, phone (423) 272-2661. The office is open daily from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
