HAWKINS/HANCOCK COUNTY WORKFORCE EMPLOYER OUTREACH COMMITTEE FORMED
LABOR DEPARTMENT REACHES OUT TO EMPLOYERS

- Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner
James Neeley announces the formation of local Workforce Employer Outreach
Committees (WEOC) across the state. The committees are an ongoing effort
by the department to reach out to Tennessee employers and get valuable
information to foster economic development and promote departmental services.
In Hawkins and Hancock counties, a chairman, vice chairman and secretary
have been named for the committee. Ronnie Price, Hawkins County Industrial
Board, will chair the WEOC. Larry Vickers of Larry Vickers Automotive,
will serve as vice chair. Eleanor Newman of the Department of Labor &
Workforce Development, will be acting secretary.
The committee is open to employers wishing to become involved. Some of
the benefits of joining are the following: to have an opportunity to share
ideas and concerns with the Department of Labor and Workforce Development;
to enhance your company's awareness of employment issues and legislation
that affects your business operation; to gain a better understanding of
the many programs and services the department provides; and an opportunity
to network with various divisions within the department and build a personal
working relationship with an employer services specialist from the department.
The first luncheon meeting will be held Wednesday, Nov. 3, from noon to
1:30 p.m. at the Hawkins County Board of Education Transportation/Training
Center, 1722 East Main Street in Rogersville. Labor & Workforce Development
Commissioner James Neeley will be the keynote speaker.
Future sessions will include discussions regarding the Tennessee Career
Center, adult education, drug-free workplace, Tennessee Occupational Safety
and Health, unemployment insurance, and many more.
