SMURFIT TO RECEIVE WORKPLACE SAFETY AWARD

NASHVILLE — Smurfit Stone Corporation will receive recertification for the Volunteer STAR Award for Workplace Safety and Health on Friday, June 16, 2006, at 11:00 A.M. (CDT). The ceremony will take place at the facility located at 700 Garrett Parkway, Lewisburg. Smurfit employs 87 people in the manufacture of corrugated and solid fiber boxes. Smurfit was the state’s first Volunteer STAR recipient in 1997 and was recertified in 2000; today is the second recertification.
