NICHIRIN TENNESSEE INC. RECEIVES SHARP WORKPLACE SAFETY AWARD

NASHVILLE - Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley announced that Nichirin Tennessee Inc. in Lewisburg was chosen to receive the SHARP (Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program) award.

“Nichirin has only been in business in Tennessee since late 2002, and for the company to receive this workplace safety designation so soon is a notable accomplishment,” said Commissioner Neeley. “ Nichirin has worked conscientiously to meet the standards the award requires.”

The SHARP award, designed for smaller employers with fewer than 250 workers in high-hazard industrial classifications, is one of the state’s highest honors for workplace safety and health. The main incentive for participation in the SHARP award program is the desire by employers to promote a safe and healthy workplace. The program also allows employers to be removed from programmed compliance inspection lists for a period of 12 months.

Nichirin Tennessee Inc. manufactures brake, power steering, and air conditioning hoses for automotive and all terrain vehicle industries. Since starting in Tennessee in 2002, the company has grown rapidly in production volume, in making new products, and in hiring new employees. Two shifts currently work at the company employing 140.

John Winkler, administrator for Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration, presented the SHARP Award to Nichirin today at the company’s facility, 1620 Old Belfast Road, Lewisburg.
