H&O TOOL & DIE RECEIVES GOVERNOR'S AWARD OF EXCELLENCE
COMPANY WORKED 137,000 MAN HOURS WITHOUT INJURY
NASHVILLE - Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley announced that H&O Tool & Die in Union City was chosen to receive the Governor’s Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety and Health.
The Governor’s Award honors Tennessee employers and employees who meet a required number of hours during a calendar year without workplace injuries serious enough to cause an employee to miss a day of work or restrict his normal job activities. The number of hours required is based on the size of the company.
“H&O Tool & Die has a remarkable safety history,” said Bob Henningsen, deputy commissioner for the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development, who presented the Governor’s Award today on behalf of Governor Bredesen at the company’s facility at 620 West Cheatham Street. “Company employees have worked more than 137,000 man hours without a lost-time or restricted-duty incident in order to qualify for the Governor’s Award.”
H&O Tool & Die is an aluminum stamping operation employing 28 people. The company is the first company in 2006 to receive the Governor’s Awards of Excellence for Workplace Safety and Health.
“The credit for this award goes to our employees. They are a well-trained crew and have indeed earned the distinction that goes with this honor,” said Johnny Cavender, management representative for H&O Tool & Die. “They show careful attention to safety and health concerns and have worked conscientiously to meet the standards the award requires.”
The Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Safety Awards Program is designed to stimulate interest in accident prevention and to promote safety. The program recognizes manufacturing and construction firms throughout the state that achieve and maintain a safe and healthful workplace.
