SCHERING-PLOUGH HEALTHCARE PRODUCTS RECEIVES
GOVERNOR’S SAFETY AWARD
safety record dates back to 2005
NASHVILLE - Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley announced that Schering-Plough Healthcare Products was chosen to receive the Governor’s Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety.
“Schering-Plough’s excellent safety record shows the company is strongly committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace,” said Commissioner Neeley, who presented the Governor’s Award of Excellence today at the company’s facility in Memphis. “The company achieved a remarkable safety record in order to meet the evaluation standards this award requires.”
The Governor’s Award honors Tennessee employers and employees who meet a required number of hours during a calendar year without workplace injuries serious enough to cause an employee to miss a day of work or restrict normal job activities. The number of hours required is based on the size of the company.
Schering-Plough Healthcare Products in Memphis is primarily a logistics and research site for various consumer healthcare products distributed by the company. There are approximately 500 employees at this location.
The company has qualified for the Governor’s Award by working more than one million hours without a lost time or restricted duty incident. This injury-free record dates back to November 2005. The award will coincide with the celebration of three million hours at this facility without a lost time injury.
