August County Unemployment Rates
Rates show decreases in 82 counties
NASHVILLE – Tennessee's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for August 2005 of 5.3 percent, down from the July revised rate of 5.5 percent, was released on September 15, 2005. County non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rates for August 2005, released today, show that 82 counties decreased, seven counties increased, and six remained the same.
Williamson County registered the state's lowest county unemployment rate for August at 3.4 percent, up from 3.2 in July. White county was the state’s highest at 12.0 percent, down from 12.4 in July.
Knox County had the state’s lowest major metropolitan rate at 3.9, the same as the July rate. Hamilton County was 4.9 percent, down from 5.1 in July. Davidson was at 4.5 percent, up from 4.3 in July, and Shelby County was 6.6 percent, up from 6.5 in July.
