NASHVILLE — Commissioner James Neeley of the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development announces Gina S. Osborne, an employee at the Northeast TN Career Center in Johnson City, TN, has been appointed by the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence (TNCPE) to the 2005 Board of Examiners. As an examiner, Mrs. Osborne is responsible for reviewing and evaluating applications submitted in TNCPE’s award process. TNCPE’s Award Program annually recognizes organizations demonstrating excellence in business operations and results.
The Board of Examiners comprises experts from all sectors, including business, industry, education and health care organizations, professional and trade associations and government. Those selected meet the highest standards of achievement and peer recognition in their fields. All members of the board must complete extensive training in the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence.
In 2003, Commissioner Neeley announced his commitment to improving customer service and the quality and effectiveness of services delivered through the Tennessee Career Center System. To accomplish this task, all of the state’s comprehensive Career Centers have begun working toward achieving performance excellence.
Assisting the Career Centers in their effort has been the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence. TNCPE’s objective is to promote economic development by helping companies grow more competitive in today’s global marketplace. The program is patterned after the Baldrige National Quality Program, recognized as the national standard. More than 1,000 organizations have participated in the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence’s Award Program.
By taking advantage of the TNCPE’s program, the Tennessee Career Center System will be recognized for providing high-quality service – a distinction that will prove helpful in recruiting new businesses and industries as well as retaining existing Tennessee businesses. Most importantly, this process will ensure that the customers of the Career Centers, the citizens of Tennessee, receive world-class service.
