GOVERNOR AWARDS TRAINING GRANT TO FAYETTE COUNTY EMPLOYER
$43,000 TO PRECISION COILS, LLC IN SOMERVILLE
NASHVILLE – Governor Phil Bredesen and Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley have awarded $43,000 to Precision Coils, LLC in Somerville, Tenn. The training grant will pay for the training of 40 employees in math basics, production shop metrics and principles of lean manufacturing.
“I am pleased these funds will be used for lean manufacturing and other training in Fayette County,” said Governor Bredesen. “These grants provide training employees need to remain competitive and help our state move forward with providing skilled workers and high paying jobs.”
“I am proud to award this grant money to Precision Coils, LLC in Fayette County,” said Commissioner Neeley. “Since July 1, 2007 the Workforce Development Division has obligated $1.5 million to Tennessee companies in Incumbent Worker projects, training more than 5,000 workers.”
“I commend the Governor and Commissioner for helping Tennessee companies with training grants,” said Senator John S. Wilder. “The Incumbent Worker grants are an integral part of the Governor’s special emphasis on job development in our state.”
The Southwest Human Resource Agency was instrumental in awarding the grant to Precision Coils, LLC.
Representative Dolores Gresham also represents Fayette County.
