GOVERNOR AWARDS TRAINING GRANT TO BLOUNT COUNTY EMPLOYERS
$14,000 TO GALLAHER AND ASSOCIATES AND $14,550 TO VANDERBILT MORTGAGE AND FINANCE
NASHVILLE – Governor Phil Bredesen and Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley have awarded $14,000 to Gallaher and Associates and $14,550 to Vanderbilt Mortgage and Finance, both of Blount County. The grants will pay for training in fire alarm control systems, digital voice command and leadership skills.
“I am pleased these funds will be used for technology and management skills training in Blount County,” said Governor Bredesen. “These grants provide training employees need to remain competitive and help our state move forward with providing skilled workers and high paying jobs.”
“I am proud to award this grant money to help train workers in Blount County,” said Commissioner Neeley. “Since July 1, 2007, the Workforce Development Division has obligated $1.5 million to Tennessee companies in Incumbent Worker projects, training more than 5,000 workers.”
The East Tennessee Human Resource Agency was instrumental in awarding the grant to Gallaher and Associates, Inc. and Vanderbilt Mortgage and Finance.
Senator Raymond Finney and Representative Joe McCord represent Blount County.
