GOVERNOR AWARDS TRAINING GRANT TO GIBSON COUNTY EMPLOYER
$49,166 TO EASTERLINE DEFENSE GROUP IN MILAN

NASHVILLE – Governor Phil Bredesen and Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley have awarded $49,166 to Easterline Defense Group – Tennessee Operations in Gibson County. The training grant will pay for lean manufacturing training for 86 employees, saving jobs and creating new jobs for the company.

“I am pleased these funds will be used for lean manufacturing training in Gibson County,” said Governor Bredesen.  “These grants provide training employees need to remain competitive and help our state move forward with providing skilled workers and high paying jobs.”

“I am proud to award this grant money to help train the workers of Easterline Defense Group in Gibson County,” said Commissioner Neeley.  “Since July 1, 2007, the Workforce Development Division has obligated $1.5 million to Tennessee companies in Incumbent Worker projects, training more than 5,000 workers.”

“I commend the Governor and Commissioner for helping Tennessee companies with training grants,” said Senator Lowe Finney.  “The Incumbent Worker grants are an integral part of the Governor’s special emphasis on job development in our state.”

The Northwest Tennessee Workforce Board was instrumental in awarding the grant to Easterline Defense Group.

Representative Chris Crider also represents Gibson County.
