SOUTHEAST CAREER CENTER SPOTLIGHTS VETERANS' SERVICES
WEEKLONG OPEN HOUSE ENCOURAGES “HIRE VETS FIRST”
NASHVILLE – The Southeast Tennessee Career Center at Chattanooga is emphasizing the office’s services to veterans next week, May 22-26, with special activities and exhibits highlighting veterans.
“In the week before Memorial Day, the staff of the Southeast Tennessee Career Center are showing their patriotic spirit by honoring veterans in the Chattanooga area and showcasing services we offer veterans,” said Chris Cole, veterans employment representative for the Chattanooga Career Center. “We invite employers, veterans, and leaders of community and veteran organizations to drop by the office during the weeklong event.”
Throughout the week Career Center staff will be on hand to discuss veterans’ benefits and other programs specifically for veterans that are available through the organizations represented at the Career Center. Military service recruiting teams will also be on hand for several hours each day.
The Career Center open house in honor of veterans supports the ongoing Hire Vets First campaign of the U.S. Department of Labor, designed to heighten awareness of the employability of veterans of America’s military service.
The Tennessee Career Center network provided services to almost 35,000 veterans during the past year. Veterans’ staff match employer needs with veterans to ease the transition from military to civilian work. Services include employment-related testing, training information, skill assessment, assistance with job search and job referral, and local job market information.
