COMMISSIONER NEELEY TO SPEAK ON COVER TENNESSEE

EVENT SET FOR WEDNESDAY, MAY 3, 2006 IN SNEEDVILLE

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley will be in Sneedville, Wednesday, May 3, at 9:00 a.m. EDT, at the old High School on Harrison Street to speak with local business leaders about Cover Tennessee, Governor Bredesen’s health care initiative for Tennessee’s uninsured. Unveiled last month in the Governor’s statewide address, Cover Tennessee is a strategy to provide affordable and portable health insurance to more than 600,000 Tennesseans.

Commissioner Neeley will also discuss two other programs that are part of the Cover Tennessee proposal, CoverKids and Access Tennessee. CoverKids is Governor Bredesen’s program to help the estimated 150,000 children in Tennessee who are living without health coverage. Access Tennessee is a health insurance plan for seriously ill adults who can afford health coverage but who have previously been turned down by insurance companies. This is a comprehensive health coverage for “uninsurables.”
