This grant will provide up to $100,000 to Tennessee companies who have a need to train incumbent workers in company related, work specific training. Companies will be required to provide a 25% match in training dollars.
This grant is not intended to replace the existing Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) Grant already in place. The TERTG is intended to provide training assistance to companies who wish to provide training to their employees during the economic recovery period and need more than the $50,000 max that the IWT program can provide. Funding is provided through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRP). This is not a pilot program and will not be renewed after the ARRP funding has been expended.
This training should result in a high probability of lay-off avoidance and possible Company growth through the economic recovery period. In times of slow productivity this grant may provide the means to turn down-time into classroom training or related instruction that may not have been possible in times of full productivity. Training will assist in the upgrading of existing skill levels or provide new skills that may increase the possibility of retaining existing work or acquiring new work.
