Any person who engages in the business of or acts as a staff leasing company by entering into any staff leasing arrangement with a client relating to business conducted by the client in this state.

Am I required to maintain workers compensation insurance?
Yes. All licensed staff leasing companies are required to submit to the commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance, within ninety (90) days of the end of each calendar quarter, a certification by an independent certified public accountant or independent public accountant that for such quarter all applicable payroll taxes have been paid on a timely basis. A certified letter must be received each quarter from licensees who currently have no contracts and who are not providing staff leasing business.

I am licensed in another state and want to operate in Tennessee. Do you have reciprocity agreements with other states? Which states?
As a condition of licensure, any applicant that is not a resident of or is domiciled outside of this state must first be licensed as a staff leasing company or as a staff leasing group in the state in which it is a resident or is domiciled if licensing is required by that state.
How do I renew a license?
Renewal notices are mailed 60 days prior to the date of expiration. To renew a license, the licensee must return the renewal application, fee, financial statement and sworn statement of compliance no later than thirty (30) days prior to the expiration date of the license.

There is no retirement status.

Can I change my license to inactive status?
No. However, you may “voluntarily surrender” your license by returning the license (certificate) to the State of Tennessee, Division of Regulatory Boards, accompanied by a certified letter from the owner / license holder declaring that operations in Tennessee have ceased.
