• Haslam Appoints Four Members To Standards Recommendation Committee

    NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam today announced the appointments of four people to the Standards Recommendation Committee that will make final recommendations to the State Board of Education on new standards to fit the needs of Tennessee’s K-12 students. The Standards Recommendation Committee will be composed of 10 members. Under legislation passed by the Tennessee General Assembly this year, the governor appoints four members of the committee, with the speaker of the Senate and speaker of the House appointing three each.

  • Haslam To Launch Statewide Discussion About State's Transportation and Infrastructure Needs

    NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam today announced that he will be traveling the state with Tennessee Department of Transportation Commissioner John Schroer over the next six weeks to discuss the state’s transportation and infrastructure needs relating to the functionality and capacity of Tennessee’s state roads and highways, safety issues around roads and bridges, and the impact infrastructure has on economic development efforts in urban and rural communities.
